tomorrow is (for me) one of the biggest day in modern philippine history. we are about to know if chief justice corona is going to be acquitted or not. and before the senator judges, i wanted to have my own thoughts on this...
i think Chief Justice Renato Corona is GUILTY. he admitted that he has a notable amount in his dollar accounts which he did not declare in his SALN. if i am the chief justice, i should have been more careful with my declarations because i know that these stuff will put me in great trouble more or less. lol! admitting that he has this money is more than enough evidence for me.
as atty. mel sta. maria said, the law is exactly a body of technicality. but i think at this point, it is technicality that put chief justice corona to conviction. he technically made a lot of inconsistent declarations, and pronouncements. the former associate justice serafin cuevas declared a lot of technical reasons why the chief justice should be acquitted but he technically missed one thing - he failed to realize that the chief justice is the chief justice. he can pull out a thousand reasons just to free himself with the verdict.
i hope that the senator judges will vote for conviction. however, i have doubts that it'll be. to think how the prosecutors get their evidences is questionable enough to have conviction. i want the truth.
