alipin ako

LSS mode. lol! i think the song is great. i did a quick search in the internet and was surprised (yet happy) that liezel sang this song.

this picture is from here.

Alipin ako na umiibig sa'yo
Bakit di magawa na magtampo?
Paano ba ito?

Di ko kayang gawin
Ikaw ay aking limutin
Kahit sinasaktan
O bakit ba sadyang ikaw pa rin.

Alam ng puso ko
Ikaw sakin nagbabago

At tila ba wala itong pakialam

practical atheism

it was cardinal tagle who coined the word - practical atheism. for him, this is one of the major hurdles in this year's cry for evangelization - this year is apparently called the year of faith.

this is from here.
“There is atheism which they openly said that they don’t believe in God and there are also those who claim that they are faithful but live as if God doesn’t exist,” Tagle said. from here.
it is true. and this came up to my mind when i heard about the passing of RH Bill in both congress - pnoy even marked this urgent. a lot of personalities expressed their happiness over the event and i am quite saddened because i see them as people with high morality. well, i guess they have their own opinion which i (as a believer) should understand. they openly profess their faith but they decide as if God does not exist.

oh well, it's time heal the wounds of the broken hearted. at least we did our best to pray and made our presence felt to express our side. probably, god is steering the wheel. he probably uses this opportunity to test our faith - until when are you going to be faithful even the door to perdition is out there in the open. God is love. i can feel his love.

pia cayetano and her experiences: a question of generalization

i am deeply saddened by pia cayetano's actions. i see her as modern filipina fighter but i think she's generalizing too much. she's putting her story to the stories of all the women. here's my take (please read my warning below)*:

picture is from here
a. i think she supported the RH Bill because she wanted to make all filipinas healthy like her and has access to all sorts of ways to control her family. physically fit by running in marathon, which is good. controlling the future of her family by voicing out her opinion - which is good. for most of the people, that is the perfect situation. both husband and wife has control over the family matters. they voices out their opinion on how to bring up their children in response to this world's earthly call.

however, some missing link here. the church is telling us to believe in God and put our faith in Him - not in our hands but in Him.  being fit is not against God's teaching because we should learn how to take good care of ourselves. if God chose her to have 6 children, she should follow. it's the will of God. so if God chose her to be a mother, she should be one. i hear hear some people saying, "kailangan di muna ako mabuntis kasi tatakbo pa ako". so, which is more important, rearing a child of running? i am not saying that pia has the same thoughts but it is a fact that if you wanted to do some physical trainings, you need to give up on something.

b. after RH Bill, she'll push with divorce bill. wow! you know what's my next statement. she's separated with her husband. and being separated means she should pass a bill for separated women. di ba? i won't be surprise if another senator will propose other controversial laws because they are in that situation.

wait, is this really the voice of the filipinos? or the voice of the few? grabe.

i will have to stop here because i might be stressing myself with something that will not be materialized. lol!

i still have high regards with pia cayetano and still hoping and praying that she will have discernment.

*WARNING: statements below are my opinion, not yours. if you can't withstand it, please don't read.

i don't know how she does it

this movie is not so so. lol! i thought it's going to be a different one, it only shows how creativity is being overpowered with something else.

the movie depicts a typical set up of a family wherein both parents are working and trying their best to raise their family. honestly, i have nothing against that set up and this movie made me realize how women of today should be honored for their dedication. in the end, it's still the family that matters which i trully appreciate very much.

but the set up and the story is already a cliche. the movie failed to present something new so i was quite frustrated with it. i will only give this movie a 5.0.

2012 christmas!

today is december 24!

this is from here.

wow! few more hours and its going to be christmas. life is little less complicated this year. it's not because i don't have any problem but because i know the reason why God is giving me such trouble and pain. as the world celebrates Jesus' birthday, our family celebrates it as well.

i am no longer a child to look for santa clause. old and mature enough to say that God is my saviour! He is my strength for I am weak. it is just right to give him thanks and praise!

a brave president

i may not like noynoy's action to certify RH Bill as urgent but i salute him for being brave let the world knows who's the man!

at first, people might i was thinking that pnoy will not talk anything about RH Bill - reasons?

a. not saying anything means he is neither against it nor pro to the bill. this might affect the upcoming 2013 election. historically speaking, there is nothing like a solid catholic vote but who knows this time?

b. this might pose an issue with his political allies - specially to other parties in the ruling coalition. they might have the same stand but we all know that senators - sotto and enrile - are some of the few men who really opposes this bill even from the start. they are friends with the senator as well.

c. this blunt action might create another wave - who knows where. again, this might pose an issue with pnoy's senatoriables.

this is from here.

again, there should have been no harm if he backs this up after may election. this is to create steady and smooth run for his candidates. but he is brave enough to test the waters. anyhow, i salute him! he made sure that he has the numbers to pass a bill. this is beyond my expectations. i only expect him to sit and follow people tell him to do. he's a  risk taker!

echo 2012

this year's echo of the regional convivence is fantastic. i should admit that there are just few people who joined this year but the spirit is always there. its awesome!

honestly, there are things to improve and some things to remove. the thing here is - WE SHOULD BE OPEN TO THE WILL OF GOD. we are all pre-destined to be something or to be someone. it is up for grab. these opportunities are not for everyone. yes. but the bottom of the story is we will all be saved.

our last day, we - with ate evie, ate melda, ate sol and izel - attended the misa de gallo! we went to lourdes and had our 1st morning mass of the season!

Dec 20: Huling Gabi!

my last picture before the world ends (daw!)

teka, teka - anong oras ba magugunaw ang mundo? nasan ba yung mga mayan na yan? kailangan kong magtanong kung manila time ba yun or chicago time? lol!

goodbye world! sayang, di mo naman inintay yung kasal ko...lol!

janine tugonon

janine tugonon did it! she may not have won the title but the fact that she's the 1st runner up - she's still a winner. probably, it's not yet our country's turn to have another title. this is yet another reason why we should keep on saying - "I AM PROUD TO BE PINOY"...

here's her piece >>

"Should speaking English be a prerequisite to being Miss Universe as an international ambassador?" Janine confidently said, “For me, being Miss Universe is not just about knowing how to speak a specific language. It’s being able to influence and inspire other people. So whatever language you have, as long as your heart is to serve and you have a strong mind to show to people, then you can be Miss Universe.” from here...

anyhow,  ms. universe is owned by donald trump. so what's new? lol! congrats janine!

puerto princesa trip with mom: a mother and son bonding v.04

our last afternoon in palawan is a little busy. we visited to so many places - which is a good sign that puerto princesa has so much to offer. our first stop is crocodile farm. i am excited to see how the crocs are doing and how are they being treated inside the facility. well, to tell you honestly - i am not a fan of animals born in captivity. i always believe that these animals should go in the wild but facilities like this will definitely give awareness of how should we treat them.

she's afraid to touch live crocs...

with palawan hornbill

with bobcat - medyo may amoy siya pero check yung buntot nya...

our next stop is mitra ranch. this is ancestral ranch of the mitra ranch in the city. i've been here early that day for a zipline ride. the scene is really fantastic. its marvelously crafted. grabe! nature at its best form. i've been to so many great places but this city is a magnet - i don't know why!

me and my mom...

relaxing

afterwards, we went to baker's hill. it's just a few meters away from mitra ranch. its actually a botanic garden but it is famous for its hopia and other sweet products. i love the place! it's also relaxing. we took some photos of course!

cute photo...

gusto nya sumakay sa kalesa

binuatan weaving center is another fantastic place that we went to. as the name denotes, its a weaving center. it uses indigenous materials of the place to create bags, table runners and a lot of other things.
the even let my mom use their weaving machine. lol!

we also had the opportunity to go to baywalk (where they are about to light up the the tallest christmas tree in the country), plaza cuartel and immaculate conception cathedral. as we end our day, we took our dinner at the chinese restaurant in ground floor. my mom loved the food!

chow na!

me and my mom - dinner time!

puerto princesa trip with mom: a mother and son bonding v.03

we're so tired last night. i wasn't able to finish amazing race ph. camera was able to charge so no problemo. our free breakfast is now served as early as 6 am. i sent an sms to our tour contact about the itinerary for today. unfortunately, they will pick us up at 1.30 pm. my mom and i decided to buy all that we need - pasalubong, souvenirs and stuff.

the trike drivers are so friendly. when i asked him if he could bring us to palengke to buy pasalubong, he brought us there! puerto princesa has two market places - the old and new one. the trike driver brought us to the center of the pasalubong market! its one stop shop! goods are so cheap and you can even ask for tawad. sover fun! i texted our tour contact once again if will have a time later that afternoon for a zip line ride. she informed me that the trip is of limited time so no chance for zip line. she gave us suggestions. when we went out, the trike driver said that its better if we go to mitra ranch for zip line, instead of the eco park. and the rest is what i call as history. lol!

our trike driver is like a tour guide. ahehehe. he told us so many different story about the owner of the pasalubong haven, story about puerto princesa, and lot of other things! going to mitra ranch is a long trike ride. ups and downs. we saw baker's hill on our way there.

a zip line ride is 500 PhP. so expensive! pero minsan lang ito, so i quickly paid. i am the first customer for the day! =) . its going to be my first time so i am a little excited and little nervous. one thing is for sure, this is going to be one awesome and jaw breaking experience. lol! there are four stations. you need to climb up a steep stairway going to third and fourth station. the experience is so exhilarating! i love it! money is so worth it!

instead of going back to the hotel, we've decided take our lunch in robinson's. yes, @ robinson's. our taste buds are limited to a few recognizable dishes. lol!

first stop...

on my way from 2nd to 3rd station...

last stop!

@ first station

beef steak for mom.

chicken binakol for me.

puerto princesa trip with mom: a mother and son bonding v.02

there was a something like a waiting area for everyone. a place to stay while waiting for the boat ride. we waited for about an hour but the wait is sover worth it. seeing the majestic rock formation is grabe! ang ganda. i don't have a good camera so i can't capture every stalactites and stalagmites inside it. God is so great! he showed us His beauty and wonder through this underground river. there was never a dull moment. i was like a kid seeing a theme park for the first time. inside you have to practice your imagination. imagining what this rock looked like.

i took so many pictures but most of them are like abstract. lol! but inside, the skilled boatman is like narrating a story. he's a good story teller. only expert boatmen like our guide knew which is which. through dark alley like water trail, he knew where we should go and to point our spotlight. my eyes are so bad in darkness. the tour lasted for 40 to 45 minutes. while checking out some photos taken and deleting some them, i realized that it's useless. the story that the boatman is his own story and mine is a different one. a story yet to be told.

after sometime, i noticed that our camera is running out of battery. i quickly asked my mom about the camera charger. wah! she left the charger in cavite. we're quite agitated but that is a vacation. we should not worry about anything for everything. so, what if we left the charger? pictures were just there. but experience will remain in our hearts.

our way back to hotel is smooth. we slept inside the van. before we know it, we're already in front of our hotel. A and A Hotel is fantastic. it looks like a cozy hotel. we got room 213. the service is awesome and the crew is so friendly. we changed our clothes and we're on our way to robinson's mall to eat and look for USB connector (to replace the camera charger since i have mac with me). we ate at teriyaki boy. my mom wasn't able to finish her food so i took the rest. lol! photoline is our next destination. i kindly asked if they are selling a USB connector for an olympus camera. at first he replied NO. however, i informed him that this is the most common connector in town. i showed him the port and told me wait for a couple of minutes. he returned back with a connector and gave it to me. i asked how much and he said it's for FREE! yes, free as in libre. i was so happy! photoline in Robinson's Puerto Princesa rocks!

puerto princesa trip with mom: a mother and son bonding v.01

its going to be our first to time travel - with each other alone. a good mom and son bonding. i don't want to treat this trip something special so we did not ask kuya jhing or kuya jenn to fetch us to the airport. we asked alan to bring us to bus terminal in tanza. then, we took a cab from coastal mall to terminal 3. it's still early but we decided to check in. we saw ethel booba.

while waiting for our plane, our tour agency called up and informed us that there was a change of schedule. instead of having the underground river tour - on a saturday, we need to have it on friday. so, meaning, as soon as we arrive palawan, we'll have to go directly to sabang which is more than an hour ride from airport. grabedad. =) .

from airport, the van was like a roller coaster ride for us. it's so fast. and the road is like zigzag going to sabang. we took one stop near ulugan bay. tour guide said that this is the gateway of the vietnamese to palawan. after 10 mins, we hit the road going to sabang beach and took our lunch from there. it's buffet. yay!

honestly, i don't know how to get to the river. i never thought that going there, we need to take a 20 minute banca ride. the waves are...oh my! i can feel my mom's heart beat. when i asked her if she's fine, she replied "eh, andito na tayo eh.". lol! the waves are kinda friendly though. i know that because our ilo-ilo to guimaras banca trip few years back with my sisters was not so good. anyhow, we survived the trip and was so proud of my mom because she was able to do it! yey!

our tour guide informed us that there were monkeys and monitor lizards all over the place. exciting! monkeys are cute but warning - naughty monkeys out on the go. monitor lizards are friendly. yes. normally, they will go out to wilderness. and those were the biggest bayawak that i've ever seen. grabe! going to the mouth of the river, we need to take a short walk with the trail. from there we saw gladys reyes. i told my mom to take photo with her - she just shrugged. lol!

my mom, eagerly waiting for our plane.

inside the plane going to puerto princesa
- of course she got the window seat.

behind me is ulugan bay.

you can only see her smile but have no idea how nervous she was.

behind me is the mouth of the world famous puerto princesa underground river.
